If not for a Sw Engr .....

I have seen many an interviews wherein the acnhor would ask a celebrity as to what he /she would be, had they not been in their current roles.
I used to wonder what would be my answer to that question.I would be definitely lying if I were to say that I wanted to be a Sw Engrr right from the day I heard about this job.I should admit I am still not able to find a convincing answer for this question...

What would I be doing had I not become an Engineer?
But I have an answer if I rephrase this question a bit.

What would I love to be now , had I not become a Sw Engrr?
Surprise Surprise :)
I would love to be a rock star ...
Imagine me in long hair and guitar strap around my torso with a stylish cooler running around the stage play some very ???????????? I know its even very diff to imagine but that's what I would love to become. No musical knowledge whatsoever is a different take altogether.

I am writing this blog because of RockOn (both movie as well as the MTv Show).
So no one should blame me for this wild imagination/dream of mine :)

Where the mind is without fear .....

Anyone surprised to see Tagore's verses as title????
Sometime back I read an interesting article in a news daily supplement which was stressing on the fact as to what all achievements ,humans can accomplish if they don't have fear in their mind. The article talked on fear being the villain in various facets of life (right from breaking relationships to even as trivial as losing a game).
Actually I would beg to differ with that. Though may not be applicable for relationships but to me fear could definitely be considered a driving factor or a motivating factor to achieve one's endeavors. I always used to wonder what motivates an individual to achieve eternal glory?
Is it popularity?
Is it money?
Is it feeling of power ?
.....

For me it is the fear of losing that actually makes one successful. It is the one that actually can push each and everyone to go beyond their abilities and accomplish things.

Those adrenalin pumping moments in a table tennis match or moments you enjoy when you accomplish a task which everyone considered impossible remain special because of our ability to oversome fear...(infact our ability to overcome the fear of losing).

Fitness freak ???

After a lot of thought I have decided to write abt one for which I m putting in a lot of effort.
For a gifted few it may not be applicable.
For some it doesn't matter.
For some they seriously want to but are not willing to spend much of a effort.
For some busy bees they are too occupied with the work that they don't even have time to think about it....
Enough of your wild guesses guys. Its about keeping oneself fit.
I should admit that I am one who doesn't like to workout. The only thing I would enjoy doing is getting up early in the morning and going for a leisurely work all alone. That is one time where atleast I enjoy being lonely.

But coming back I don't know how a sudden transition happened but nowadays I prefer heading to a gym after a days hard work (if I can call so ;) ). I normally set targets on the speed of my run and duration of run in treadmill. When I get to beat those targets the happiness I get is something which I cannot explain in words.

Guys I had this blog in my drafts ... I had drafted this on 15th Oct. In a matter of months everything has changed... I no longer head to the gym . One good example to illustrate my shortsighted goals :(

A Game is just a Game?

Table Tennis has now become one of the game which I love to play. When I started playing tt , it was one game which I hated the most. But now I m loving it.
Every evening when I play TT in my apartment there is one striking similarity with life that strikes me.
When you think you are on top of your game and there is noway you are going to lose that game you receive a jolt and in the end it so happens that you have to slog out to win that game or at times you may even lose.
It is same with life as well (atleast with me). When you realize that you are on top of a problem that's when something totally unexpected unfolds and you realize that you are actually in a spot of bother. But these moments actually make life/game interesting. You start to fight against the odds and when you emerge victorious you tend to savor every moment of it.

At times I take the game very seriously and make sure I win the game because I try to forget my disappointment with a consolation victory in a mediocre TT game :).So actually at times it is a good stress buster.
A game is just a game? Not really ...

No Titles please :)

It was one of those days where in I had a very pleasant journey(from Bangalore to Chennai) and the weather in Chennai was also not that harsh and actually before my arrival there was a heavy downpour.I got down from the bus and crossed the road.
I was walking towards my home. I saw a lady along with her daughter walking along with a basket wherein there was a utensil. I was actually surprised to see those two people all alone because it was around 12 :00 in the night. They were ahead of me.Then all of a sudden they stopped in one corner and took a small plate wherein they poured some milk and kept it in one corner. Then a dog came and drank it.Along with the milk they also dropped in some bread crumbs. I was totally taken in by surprise to see some good souls at the middle of the night feeding animals.I was actually following them for some time. They were feeding quite many. My initial reaction was WOW... but then it transpired that if I continue to follow them then def it will raise suspicions and therefore walked away from them.
Then there was another incident that happened in Bangalore. Nearby a bakery there was a guy who was seeking alms. One good Samaritan called him to the bakery .He also ordered the shopkeeper to give whatever that guy requested for.The guy who was seeking alms was happy and he collected some food and left the place. The shopkeeper took only 50% of the actual price and he said let it be a contribution from his side as well.
I stood there as a witness to the happening.

The pleasure you get when you see people of this kind cannot be explained. It can only be felt :).

The Kite Runner

As soon as I start writing this blog there is one qn that comes up in ma mind. What is making me write this blog. The fact tht I m staying awake well past midnight to write this blog even though I have missed the previous 2 mights sleep means that this is quite special and interesting to me.Title : The Kite Runner. Yes guys this is a novel which was my last read.So wats so special about it.Off late my interest had waned. But some time back my friend recommended me this one saying tht this is a very good read. But in the end it sounded like one of my best read atleast so far.
So what made this one so special to me?
Is the fact that this book talks about friendship or brotherhood that exists between two guys? Nope Not really. The fact that the author was haunted by his past mistakes and he tries to set it right made it close to my heart. Each one of us I m sure would have been haunted by the past. Some of us would have thought that we could have handled college relationships better. Others would have thought that they could have handled their fiscal situation better at some point of their life.In this book the author ius haunte by his past. He tries to set right the situation. But my argument is that there is no point in brooding over spilled milk.At that particular moment of time if we were 100 % confident tht the decision/action taken is 100% correct thn thats more than enough..
This is quite a confusing post.... Y did I write this? Not sure .
I am almost at the verge of falling asleep so gud night guys :)

AR - oscAR

At the time of writing this blog it was less than 12 hrs to decide whether AR has receive the pinnacle of glory... Should I really call Academy awards as pinnacle of glory(or even atleast for entertainment industry). My answer would be no .. But may be I should write a separate blog for that...
I really wish that he bags an oscar. He really deserves for the sort of work he has being doing for close to 2 decades now..By his work he has lifted the spirits of many an Indian ....So he deserves more . He has given Indian music a new identity and it is indeed ironical that he gets international recognition thru Slumdog movie.. Ironical? Some may ask y ironical . For some reason there is one scene in the Slumdog millionaire movie which remains etched in my memory. The scene in which the protagonist working as a tour guide takes two Americans on a ride to a slum and when the Americans r busy seeing places his friends would rob off everything possible from the car in which the Americans came. When they come back they would be shocked to see the car at which point the driver will catch hold of this guy and will hit him.The guy will say this is true India for u for which the Americans will lend him some bills and say this is true America for you. This turned me off ...Am I reading between the lines? Was it just a casual comment which should have been taken lightly? This is just a work of fiction and should be treated in a way it deserves.. May be some would say that I am not that mature enough to do so. But wat turned me off? Is it the fact that the movie is directed by a foreigner? Would have I accepted the same had it been directed by an Indian? ..... But anyway I pray that AR wins an oscAR and make India proud.. What a fitting tribute would that be? Coming from the same area where he is from in Chennai I am sure there will be a very big celebration. But let me not jump the trigger. Lets wait for "The Academy Award goes to ........ "
